Exilium Devlog (Isometric horror/strategy game)
After a long while, Exilium's first new map is almost ready to be added to the latest build.
The new map will be a cemetery map. It differs largely from the current house map due to a massive change in the environment. While developing, I realized that each map could be unique in its own way. It was a daunting task to design a level so different from the original, however, I believe that by utilizing its difference and adding some new equipment, this map will work well.
I wanted to make an outdoor map since I came up with the concept of Exilium. In the past, on other projects, I had some ideas for park-like areas for horror games. I decided to go with a cemetery this time as I believe the environment is inherently creepier, and it makes more sense for paranormal activity to occur there. I took some inspiration from my past experience with outdoor levels and real-life areas, although my current design is far from perfect. The cemetery map will hopefully be a beneficial addition to the map roster for Exilium, and definitely not the last!
The deadline for the game for college is the 9th of May, so I will do my best to fit in as many additions as possible before then for testing. I plan for atleast 1 more map after adding the cemetery (hopefully 2 more), and some new equipment to better suit the environment. I also hope to update the ui art to improve the overall look and feel of exilium. Until then, thank you for reading, and take care!
